NRG REORGANIZATION

A major reorganization of Naut’su mawt Resources Group (NRG), the economic development company owned by Naut’su mawt Tribal Council (NmTC), was recently completed. NRG president Robert Duncan says the reorganization is basically a consolidation of the three successful areas of operation. That was coupled with the paring of services which were seen to be either unprofitable or not aligned to NRG’s long-term business strategy.“It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out,” Duncan said. “We took a close look at the entire organization. The bottom line was that we either had to make some changes or go under. It was strictly a required business decision.”
NRG’s Board of Directors approved a reorganization that will see NRG focus on opportunities in construction and contracting, oil and gas development and manufacturing as well as pursuing a variety of smaller joint-ventures.
As of February 1, NRG ceased its involvement in information technology products and services, socio-economic consulting and office interiors.“We had to look at what areas offered real opportunities for our members,” Duncan said. “By approving this reorganization, the executive confirmed its mandate to generate a profit, create employment and build capacity for the people in our communities.”He said a thorough study of NRG’s operations revealed that the three affected areas were not currently profitable and there no indications that the situation would change. “IT and office interiors are very competitive industries. They are dominated by very large companies operating on very slim margins and we decided that there was nothing in the future that we could change to alter that.”
